The soil is admirably adapt-ed to agriculture, and all stand-ard grains and vegetables aregrown profitably. In the bottomlands along the streams the soilis a deep black loam. In otherlocalities it is of black sandy,chocolate and sandy loam. Inthe central and southern partsof Fannin, Grayson and CookeCounties, the soil is principallywhat is known as the blackwaxy soil, a soil that is richand productive and capable ofthe most trying cultivation.
