Lives are lost, property destroyed, valuablesstolen, but the general peace has been maintainedand order generally enforced. Of course, all kinds of business pursued in theolder cities of the West are carried on in the newcity. The business houses are now commodious,sonic of them even imposing, while the amount ofbusiness transacted would do no discredit to citiesof double the number of inhabitants and scores ofyears of existence.
