Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Yeast fungus (Trichosporon cutaneum) with septate hyphae and pseudohyphae. Trichosporon is a yeast isolated from soil, water, vegetables, mammals, and birds. It is also a part of the normal flora of mouth, skin and nails and is the causative agent of white piedra, superficial infections and invasive trichosporonosis in humans. Trichosporon cutaneum has been often synonymous and classified as Trichosporon beigelii. Magnification: x500 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
