Black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), at a waterhole at night, with a lion (Panthera leo, at left) approaching from behind. The lion is the largest African cat and one of the top (apex) predators. The black rhinoceros, found in sub-Saharan Africa, is an endangered species of the rhinoceros. The rhinoceros is a large herbivorous mammal that can reach over a ton in weight.
