Occupational therapy. An occupational therapist works with a woman using a computer with supports for her arms. Occupational therapy is aimed at enabling people with health problems to continue with the activities of daily life. In this case the patient suffers from ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis in the backbone, sacrum and ileum. The joints become painful and stiff and the vertebrae may fuse together completely. The condition is treated with anti-inflammatory drugs and regular therapeutic exercise.
