The world's largest stack of worn horseshoes - Scarrington, Nottingham, England

The pile of some 50,000 horseshoes were constructed between June 1945 and April 1965. It was built by Mr George Flinders who was a blacksmith for 51 years at Scarrington forge. The monument stands 17 feet high and is 19 1/2 feet in circumference at the base. The shoes are interlocked without any supporting column, it is estimated that the weight of the stack is in the region of 10 tons. This makes it the largest known stack of used horseshoes in the world with the taking of souvenirs by treasure hunters has caused the severe leaning of the structure.
