She complained also of leucorrhoca ; and of the presence of a tumorin the abdomen, which she first noticed eighteen months ago. Upon exami-nation, the outlines of a cystic tumor could be readily felt filling the pelvisand extending as high as the umbilicus. From the history and the physicalcondition present a diagnosis of ovarian tumor was made, the inference beingthat it was of a dermoid character. An ovariotomy was performed after theusual methods, in the Kensington Hospital for Women, September 8, 1893. After making the abdominal incision, the left index and middle fingerswere introduced to explore the tumor and pelvis. The middle finger of theexploring hand immediately came in contact with something sharp enoughand firm enough to divide the skin of that digit. It was then recognized, on Fig. Irregular mass of calcareous matter and bone removed from the right psoas spiculum on lower margin. further examination, that a considerable mass of bone was present near theevel of the brim of the pelvis and in the region of the right sacro-iliac was a spicule from this mass of bone that had inflicted the cut on the ex-ploring finger. The mass had no direct connection with the tumor of theright ovary, which was peeled out of its bed of adhesions and removed. Asmall tumor of the left ovary was then removed. Subsequent examination 102 NOBLE AND TUNIS, of these tumor masses showed them to be of a dermoid character. Thelarger one was about the size of a childs head at term, the smaller about asbiff as a good-sized walnut. The mass of bone from the right side of thepelvis was then enucleated from its connective-tissue bed, lying for the mostpart along the psoas muscle. It was irregular, nodular in outline, s
