Tower door of Ladykirk Parish Church (Our Lady of the Steill), Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
Ladykirk Parish Church is reputed to be the oldest intact church in Berwickshire and dates from 1513. It is said that the church - originally known as St Mary's or Our Lady of the Steill - was built by order of James IV after he survived a near-drowning while crossing the Tweed The church is also famous as the venue for the signing of the Treaty of Chateau Cambresis in 1559.
