The poison should be applied at the first appearanceof the beetles, using 1 pound of paris green or 3 or 4 pounds ofarsenate of lead (paste) to 50 gallons of water. One poundof lime should be added to each pound of paris green to lessenthe danger of burning the leaves. The arsenicals may beused to advantage somewhat stronger^ provided the plantsare not injured.
