Thenhe removed to Mount Union and oc-cui)ied the i)arsonage, which was amast .generous gift of Mrs. MaryBrewster, by will, at death on March19, 1876, to the Mount Union Presby-terian church and congregation, tobe a home for their pastor. In the year 1878 a connectionwith the Shirleysburg church wasagain effected. The church buildingwas repaired and remodeled in theyea;s. 1882-83, at a cost cf aboutSSOflO and re-dedicated, July 9, Pomeroy continued pastor until. The old Presbyterian Church. Dedicated 1867. Vacated 1908. 264 April, 1884, a period of 13 years. Inthat time 170 new memebers were ad-ded to the church, which increasedthe membership from 25 to 111; theSabbath school roll was increasedfrom 75 to 166; and the contribu-tiojis amounted to $10,236. The years1872, 1875, 1878 and 1883 were espec-ially marked as revival years, andwitnessed large additions to the-membership. Rev. Pomeroy did an^excellent work here, but was compel-led to resign on account of illhealth. The later histrry of the church istc a great extent known to most ofthe people of our town. It was as suc-cessor to Rev. S. W. Pomeroy, thatRev. D. H. Ciimpbell, D. D., came,the man who was near and dear tohis people and who gave his life inthe service of this pastorate. died .Jan. 31, 1901.
