A Marine Corps photograph from 1969 shows Private First Class Harry Kline-felter displaying the "backpack bushwack", a lightweight multi-purpose illumination system. The system, weighing less than 40 pounds, was designed by Master Sergeant W. Hargrove and carried in a standard haversack. Activation is as simple as flipping a switch, providing battery-powered illumination for small units operating at night.
