Soc. 1870, p. 138), but there can be little doubt that the two races in- tergrade, and that the Chinese race ought to be called Charadrius cantianm dealbatus. 310. CHARADRIUS GEOFFROYI. (GEOFFROY'S SAND-PLOVER.) Charadrius geoffroyi, Waglei, §y8t. Av. p. 61 (1827). GeofEroy's Sand-Plover is one of the larger species of the section (wing from carpal joint 5| to 5|^ inches), with a long thick bill (length from frontal feathers '95 to '8 inch, of which the terminal vault occupies about half). GeoflFroy's Sand-Plover is a very rare accidental straggler to Japan, and the only authority for its occurrence in any of the Japanese.
