Colorfully dressed pilgrims and dancers are everywhere during the celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe Feast Day
The villa of Tortugas near Las Cruces, New Mexico, celebrates the Virgin of Guadalupe Feast day each year on the traditional dates of December 10-12 with prayers, matchine dancers, a pilgrimage, and colorful Chichimecca dancers. Danile Ruiz of Las Cruces made this spectacular staff, or quiote, from desert plants called dasylerion, which is a tradition for pilgrims to A Mountain.
