The original of our sketch was one of elevenchildren and the youngest of these was twelveyears of age before there was a death in the subject was the sixth in the family in order ofbirth, having five older and five younger brothersand sisters. During boyhood his school advantageswere limited, hut since reaching manhood he hasapplied himself diligently to study, and is a vora-cious reader of good literature.
