Montsonis castle. La Foradada.
It is an inhabited castle, which is why the flag still waving to Keep and some rooms are for private use. In fact, it is the first private castle in Spain that was opened to the public. The castle has two square towers on the main façade with three portals to access the main voussoir semicircular shields and lintels. There are twin lancet openings, loopholes and Renaissance windows. The current Montsonís Castle is the result of a constructive process which began in the sixteenth century, when the men abandoned the old medieval fortress high and moved his residence in the town, and to the ends today. The first stage construction dates from the second half of the sixteenth century, and the work is done from a tower of the ancient wall of Montsonís. Later in the second half of the seventeenth century, were made reconstruction of the building, then the five assaults suffered the castle during the War of the Reapers. At the end of the eighteenth century the present church was built Montsonís, attached to the castle, and after many years of neglect and decay works carried out in recent years by the barons of Albi gave the old building its appearance today.
