When about eight-een or twenty years of age he cast his lotwith the pioneers of Ohio and was em-ployed by the month for a time^ but after-ward successfully engaged in merchandis-ing in Athens county, that state. He wasmarried on the 31st of May, 1828, to MissHarriet Coe, who was born in Connecticutand died in Athens county, Ohio, afterpassing the eighty-ninth milestone on lifesjourney.
