This is the ruins of Cawfields Mile Castle Tower on Hadrians Wall in Northumberland built during the Roman occupation of England in 20-50AD and named after the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The wall stretches from Carlisle in the west to newcastle in the east. Originally built as a defensive fortification against the Celts to the North the Wall allowed for peaceful trade between local populations.
