Treasury and national bank notes and Canadian banks notes, and how to detect them; the market value of all nations' coins and bank notes in money; a list of and prices paid for rare English, Irish, Scotch, French, German and Spanish coins. Illustrated with about 150 cuts . ns is to look up ancient history. Most ofthe ancient coins, as far back as 300 years before Christ, have on the obverse, like those of the present day, thebust of some prince, king, tyrant or emperor; and on thereverse, the title or name. Now, if one is familiar with theGreek or Latin language, it is very easy to find out underwhose reign the coin was issued, and by consulting thechronology one can ascertain the age of a coin within avery narrow limit. On the following plates are givensome illustrations of these early coins: Those on the firstplate were coined 700 to 600 , those on the second 300to 200 , those on the third from 60 to 100 , andthose on the fourth plate from 1000 to 1670 To a student of ancient history nothing can be moreinteresting than these coins, as some are relics and wit-nesses of the former existence of cities and nations, whichif it were not for these coins we never should have knownanything of their existence.
