Captain James Cook FRS RN Statue West Cliff Whitby Yorkshire
The statue of Captain James Cook FRS RN presented to Whitby by the Hon. Sir Gervase Beckett, it was unveiled in 1912. The seven feet six in bronze figure was sculpted by John Tweed. Cook moved to Whitby in 1746. He was born in Marton, Middlesborough in 1728 and died in 1779.
