More than 200 runners, many in fancy dress, took part in the annual mud race in the estuary town of Maldon. Racers must cross the mouth of the River Blackwater at low tide - a distance of about 500 yards. Comedians Jo Brand and Sean Lock, along with Andy Akinwolere from the BBC's Blue Peter and Ed from the CBeebies took part in the Maldon Mud Race Event 2011
