Bone diaphysis, light micrograph. Yellow bone marrow is a less active form of bone marrow. Haematopoietic tissue, where precursors of blood cells are formed, is very scarce and is intermingled with abundant adipose (fat) cells. In the hematopoietic tissue the largest cells are megakaryocytes.
