Making bread from scratch. To make bread, yeast is activated by mixing with hot water before adding other ingredients, usually sugar, oil, salt and flour. More flour is added as the dough is kneaded. The dough is then set aside in a bowl to rise. After rising, the dough it is 'punched' down and separated into bread pans for baking. Image 1 of 9.
