Merrill (right) at the 459 ARW auditorium on Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, Aug. 11, 2018. Merrill assumes command from Col. Thomas Pemberton and comes to the 459th from the Pentagon where he served as the senior policy advisor for the Air Force Reserve to the Reserve Forces Policy Board. He is a command pilot with more than 3,600 military flying hours in the T-37A, UH-1H, and HH-60G.
