Comin Cefn-poeth

COMIN CEFN-POETH is a common in Llanganten parish. Comin and its variants comins, cwmin and comis are borrowed from English 'common.' Cefn, as shown above, means 'ridge' in place-names, and the adj. poeth, now meaning 'hot,' formerly meant 'burning, burnt,' as in Coed-poeth Comin Cefn-poeth then means 'the common of the burning (burnt) ridge.'
