The earlyintercourse of the patriarchs with the Philistine lords, the cam-paign of Joshua, the restoration of the ark, the romantic storyof Samson, and the brilliant victory of David, became, whenread on the scenes of action, glowing life pictures. Nowhereelse in all my wanderings through Bible lands did the harmonybetween the Land and the Book appear more striking, moreperfect, than in the plain of Philistia. GALILEE AND THE I.
