Horizontal close up of one of the many great Renaissance paintings adorning the ceiling of the Salone dei Cinquecento. The most imposing council chamber in the town hall was built in 1495 and is still in regular use by the current Florentine council. The ceiling consists of 39 panels constructed and painted by Vasari and his assistants which represent the Great Episodes from the life of Cosimo I.
