Chelsea buildings facades, New York. Graphical and abstract. Chelsea is a colorful neighborhood with a strong cultural, energetic pulse. Once primarily the stomping grounds for the gay community, Chelsea’s great restaurant and bar scene, as well as its proximity to The Meatpacking District have made it one of the hottest neighborhoods to live in for any New Yorker. Residents choose to live here for its wide array of cultural, nightlife and daytime activities. Chelsea is truly an amalgamation of some of the best things New York has to offer. Art galleries litter the streets between 9th and 10th avenues, featuring circulating exhibits and retrospectives. On West 15th and 9th Avenue is beloved Chelsea Market, whose eclectic mixture of food boutiques (the Lobster Place is incredible for fresh fish and clam chowder), sample sales, and local designer markets make it a destination for New Yorker and tourist alike. The newly added Highline also runs up the West side from the teens through the twenties. The latter is an old railroad track that was renovated and landscaped into a walking path high above the water, featuring liquid magenta sunsets and picturesque greenery.
