When scarcely fiftyhis health was so precarious that he made awill in favor of his sister, provided she wouldpay their father certain sums due him. Underthe greatest discouragement and ill health hecontinued to produce masterpieces in greatnumbers—some four hundred and fifty areattributed to him. In 1681 we learn that hewas not only ill but in great want, so that hisfriends assisted in his support and gained ad-missio
