Al-though other plants are grown more orless, carnations are the principal crop,and they are grown in very large quanti-ties. Luckily our visit was timed justright to see a grand lot of the muchtalked of Aristocrat, and the sight of25,000 of this grand carnation in fullflower is well worth a journey to is a very fine variety withouta doubt, its beautiful deep cerise flowersbeing of excellent form, size and sub-stance. It is borne on fine stiflf stemsand the flowers are well up in the center,while as to its freedom in flowering,there can be no possible doubt. A. assured us that they were cuttingi8-inch stems on it in September andthat the plant
