FLOAT STEAM TRAP. One of the several types of steam traps with sealedfloats, this having a direct attachment of thefloat and valve which is designed to give asmall amount of motion to the float foroperating the valve. The valve has a cage guide and its stemis loosely socketed to the float, so that anyside motion of the float does not unseat thevalve. 127. DIFFERENTIAL EXPANSION STEAM TRAP. Theopening and closing of the valve for discharging the water of condensa-. tion is effected by the differential expansion and contraction of theorass and iron tube, being 3 to 2. The setting of the valve is con-trolled by the adjusting lever, so that the water is discharged, and whensteam enters the brass tube it expands by the additional heat and closesthe valve by lifting the seat.
