A ferry on the East River going under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.

The Brooklyn Bridge, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, stretches 5,989 feet (1825 m) over the East River. Upon completion in 1883, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world, the world's first steel-wire suspension bridge, and the first bridge to connect Manhattan to Long Island. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964.
