In 1839 or 1840 Miss Elizabeth Richards com-menced a school for young ladies. She was assistedbv Leah Heaton, who afterwards was the wife ofJ. J. Boone. They kept a good school and awakenedmuch interest in the science of botany. Their termsvaried from S2 to S5 a quarter. Drawing, painting,and fancy needle-work were at the highest price.
