Gathering firewood. 16-year-old mother gathering firewood to fuel the open fire she is using to cook food for her and her baby. Open wood fires create a lot of smoke (upper left), and this can lead to diseases caused by smoke inhalation. Use of devices such as ceramic stoves and smoke hoods can reduce such diseases.
