The ancient Pantanassa Monastery part of Byzantine fortified hill town of Mystras or Mistras on the slopes of Taygetos Mountain, Peloponnese, Greece.
Mystras was a fortified town erected in 1249 by William de Villehardouin. Then conquered and occupied by the Byzantines, Turks and Venetians. It was abandoned in 1832. You can now visit the site with its wonderful views of the valley below.
