Sir,—In submitting a report upon the project to divert water from the Bellyriver and empty it into the St. Mary river at some point above the head gates of theAlberta Railway and Irrigation Companys canal, I wish to first point out, thatalthough considerable care was taken with the survey and general plans of thisscheme, there was not sufficient time for this report to go into exact details of thevarious structures which will be required. Only a general idea of the cost of the structures has been attempted here, butthe figures given should represent fairly accurately the cost of construction. Every feasible route for a canal was investigated by my party while in the field,and I believe that the
