In 2021 the UK Government confirmed chewing gum firms have agreed to contribute to the cost of clearing UK streets of discarded chewing gum. King's Lynn have already been using a chewing gum removal machine for several years, with nearby resort Hunstanton receiving funds for their own gum cleaner, operated by volunteers, in 2019.
