Microsphere filter. Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of chemically imprinted polymer microspheres in a fibre mesh. These microscopic spheres have been chemically treated to bind to certain chemicals as a means of removing them from drinking water. The spheres have been bound to the fibres to form a fibre mat so they can be used as a filter. Magnification: x100 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
