A sign indicating the direction to take an alternative relay bus to the metro is seen on a traffic light pole in Marseille. The Régie des transports métropolitains (RTM) announced on September 27, 2023 the closure of the two Marseille metro lines from Monday to Thursday from 9:30 , for a probable duration of two years, the time for automation. During these closures, five evenings from October 23, 2023 then from Monday to Thursday from November 6, the last trains will leave the termini at 9:30 and a free replacement bus service will be set up, with a passage every ten minutes.
