Day of Solidarity with Ford Visteon Workers Notts Trades Union Council members representing a wide range of unions including Unison the National Union of Journalists and The National Union of teachers supporting the Visteon Ford workers by demonstrating outside the Sandicliffe Ford dealership in Nottingham Visteon went into receivership on March 31st 2009 giving only six minutes notice to workers at three locations Belfast Basildon and Enfield The 200 workers concerned were left with no wages no redundancy package and a loss of all pension rights Some of these workers had as many as thirty years service with Ford prior to the car giant creating Visteon as a subsidiary They were promised security and have been abandoned The Visteon workers have occupied the Belfast plant and are picketing the other sites More info at http visteonoccupation wordpress com
