Onthe very spot where the human sacrificeswere formerly offered, our chapel 1901 we had only eight members in theAshanti mission; at the end of 1910 wehad 1,267 with nearly 200 under instruc-tion for baptism. Kumassi is still far frombeing Christian, but it offers a field ofexceptional promise. We have fourteenchurches and forty other preaching placesin the circuit, and very soon we ought toplace a missionary at Kintampo, our mostnortherly Our West African Mission Field 193 The only Societies working with us inthe Gold Coast territories are the BasleMission (in Ashanti), the (in miningdistricts), and the Roman Catholics.
