Carpels numerous with lateral styles, seated on a dry permanent, elevated receptacle. (Don's Mill.) Leaves compound, alternate or opposite, stipulate, siib-evergreen; pin- nately cut. Flowers white or yellow. Shrubs low, natives of Europe and America, and of easy culture in a dry soil.
