Entrance to the Thermes, Neris les Bains, a spa town in the Auvergne region of France.

Neris les Bains is a small spa town in the Auvergne region of France. Historians believe that the early Gauls first used the waters of the spa. The Romans also exploited the healing hot waters with steam rooms, bath houses and hot and cold pools. The spa and town declined after that until it was revived in the early 19th century. The Thermes are currently owned by the community. The waters come out of the ground at 53C. The town has hotels, shops, a theatre and a casino. People who come to the town for medicinal purposes believe that the waters act as a sedative and aid muscle relaxation. They are especially good for neurological and psychosomatic disorders and rheumatism.
