A spring piston air pistol, Johann Adam Kuchenreuter (1794 - 1869), Steinweg near Regensburg, circa 1840. Octagonal iron barrel with a brass insert in 11 mm calibre bore, and inscribed on top in silver, "I. Adam Kuchenreuter". Dovetailed front sight, rear sight adjustable for elevation. Lever for unlocking the barrel is presumably a replacement. Brass pressure cylinder. Cock and lock display fine floral engraving. The piston spring is an especially strong version.
