Fatal plane crash at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas. Plane No. 2611, piloted by Lt. Carry L. Waples and instructor Lt. Highley, was turning with the wind when it settled in a tree, hit the ground, and caught fire. Lt. Waples died, while Lt. Highley sustained minor injuries. The plane was completely destroyed.
