Magnetic tape storage, IBM research. IBM scientists Mark Lantz and Jens Jelitto with a range of magnetic tapes. They are part of the team that demonstrated a record in magnetic tape data density of billion bits per square inch. The technology used a dual-coat magnetic tape based on barium ferrite (BaFe) particles. Photographed in January 2010, at IBM Research-Zurich, Switzerland.
