When two years ofage, his nurse slipped and let him fall, in consequence ofwhich he suffered so much that it was thought he could notrecover; he did, however, so far improve, that it was hopedno further ill effects would follow. At the age of threeyears he had the measles: in the spring of the followingyear, a projection of some of the upper dorsal vertebrae, withan altered form of his chest, was observed, in consequenceof the childs walking in a singular manner, holding his headbackward and having his shoulders much raised.
