On the westerly slope of Kearsarge mountain, in thetown of Wilmot (formerly Kearsarge Gore), is the sub-stantial homestead of the old New England type, nowknown as Cass-Carr farm. Here Benjamin Cass, abrother of Major Jonathan Cass of Exeter, who was thefather of Lewis Cass, settled during the Revolution, andestablished a home in the wilderness.
