NEW YORK – Gen. Frank Grass, the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, greets Cardinal Edward Egan, the Archbishop of New York City from 2000 to 2009, as the New York Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry marches up 5th Avenue here during the city parade March 16. The 69th Infantry has led the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade since for the past 162 years, including the years of the regiment’s wartime service in WWI, WWII and Iraq.
