This species has been tested at various points on the prairies of the West and Northwest with perfect success, enduring a temperature of thirty degrees below zero, in exposed situations, entirely uninjured. This is not only one of the hardiest, but the most beauti- ful in color and outline; foliage of a rich blue or sage color; it is a valuable acquisition. HEMLOCK OR WEKPINfi (Canadensis). A remarkably graceful and beautiful native tree, with drooping branches and delicate, dark foliage, like that of the Yew; distinct from all other trees; it is a beautiful lawu tree and makes a highly ornamental hedge.
