'Portrait of Nekrasov', 1965. Russian poet and publisher Nikolay Nekrasov (1821-1877) writing the "Last Songs" while seriously ill. Nekrasov's poems about Russian peasant life gained him popularity in the liberal intelligentsia. His funeral was attended by 4,000 people. Painting in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow.
